Postage Stamps for first class will increase by a penny to 44 cents this coming Sunday, January 27, 2013. Postcard stamps will increase to 33 cents. The only good news about this is that all stamps are now forever stamps, so you won't have to buy a bunch of penny stamps to go with any leftover stamps that you still have from this week. In previous stamp prices increases, the extra penny stamps were a nightmare. I would calculate how many old stamps I had left and then go to the Post Office and buy penny stamps to match. Then I would find one or more old ones later, and have to go back to buy more penny stamps to get them all matched up. Sometimes the Post Office would run out of Penny stamps, and then I would have to buy a whole new stamp instead of just the penny one I needed. These days I pay everything online that I can, which has reduced my need for stamps, but there are still some things that have to be mailed. The hours that the Post Office is open seem to decrease every time I go. My local Post Office is only open 2 hours on Saturday mornings now. They close up tight at 4:00 during the week.
